The wife of the Hon. Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Chief Samuel Sam-Sumana on Sunday, 25th January, 2015 donated a red mini bus to the Kono Women for Peace in Koidu City, Kono District. The donation was to help ease the transportation constraints of women around Koidu City.
Addressing the Muslim Women’s Organization and the Kono Women for Peace during the Vice President’s visit to Kono last week, the wife of the Vice President Mrs. Khadija Sam Sumana said she was touched by the rapid development made by the Kono women for establishing sanity and security within Koidu and its environs.
She said she was also touched by the speed at which the women had embarked on projects to kick against the EBOLA Virus Disease in the district, adding that there has been serious and dedicated women going around the corners of Koidu City sensitizing the people on how to help eradicate the current epidemic.
Madam Khadija Sam-Sumana pleaded with the women to ensure that the Ebola is finally eradicated within the shortest possible time. She pledged her support to the speedy completion of the Ebola virus disease by donating a red mini bus for the purpose of running around Koidu City for Ebola sensitization activities.
Receiving the good news on behalf of the Kono Women for Peace, the Chairlady madam Sia of the MORMASAY organization who has been very instrumental in ensuring that the education on Ebola becomes a success in koidu town and environs thanked Mrs. Sumana for her timely intervention to ease challenges of transportation within the city. She also recognized the good work of the Kono Women for Peace, and the Kono Women’s Muslim Jammat.
She said the wife of the Vice President’s donation will go a long way to assist the women. She said the donation of the mini boss to them was a big surprise, for which she was expressing her sincere gratitude.
Whilst giving thanks to distinguished personalities and organizations such as the Kono Women for Peace, Muslim Women’s Organization and MORMASY Women’s Organization the Minister of State in the Office of the Vice President Mrs. Sia Harriett Turay with them to give their support to help to eradicate the Ebola in Koidu City and the District as a whole. She appreciated them for their courage in the fight against the diseases. The Minister asked them to be law- abiding women who have respect for the laws enacted by the government in the name of peace, love and unity.
Other speakers also thanked the wife of the Vice President Madam Khadija Sumana for her visit and the wonderful donation to the Kono Women for Peace. they expressed sincere thanks and tender and appreciation to H E the President Ernest Bai Koroma, the First Lady Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma and the political head of the District Hon. Vice President of the republic of Sierra Leone Chief Samuel Sam Sumana, for their relentless support towards the fight against EBOLA. The Vote of Thanks and Appreciation climaxed the program with traditional songs in Kono on how to combat EBOLA, and reasons for coming together in order to bring total peace in the district.
